Who came up with the idea of gathering thousands of people in a Spanish town to throw tomatoes everywhere? There is actually no concrete evidence of the event. How it originated. There are some theories though. One of the main reasons why this tomato-throwing festival started is that the tomato sauce originated from a religious procession that went horribly wrong. The story goes that some young people started causing a disturbance during the march which caused an important participant to fall to the ground. A fight ensued.
